Welcome!

Bulldog Pride!
Welcome to Miss Veenstra's music blog! Please stop by regularly to catch up on what is happening in our music classroom.

Sixth Grade Choir

We are currently working on songs for our Spotlight Concert in February and our Winter Concert on December 10! (Save the Date)
Some of our songs are...

  • Hot Chocolate
  • When You Believe
  • The Knight and the Dragon
  • Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho
  • Lean on Me
  • Antiphonal Deck the Hall
Sixth Grade General Music
We started off our year studying different composers. We quickly learned about Beethoven, Michael Jackson, Mozart, Hans Zimmer, John Williams and many more!

We are currently presenting our favorite musicians. We have heard the 'fast facts' about Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Family Force 5, Elvis, Cee-lo Green, Beyonce, just to name a few!

Fifth Grade General Music
After getting to know each other, we are singing some new songs and talking about the music puzzle and all of the parts involved in reading music. October is 'RHYTHM CHALLENGE' month.  I like to call it 'October Madness' since I love March madness so much! We are going head to head in a single elimination tournament. Eventually we determine each class representative and they will battle each other for title of 'MOST RHYTHMIC'.

Fifth Grade Band
Fifth grade band starts October 2 with our first lesson night. (parents invited too)
The month of October is strictly lessons. Each student has a fifteen minute lesson one day of the six day cycle. Looking forward to getting started!

Prep-K Music
We are discovering our voices! Is it high or low? Loud or soft? Whispering or Talking? Yelling or Singing? We are also learning how to express ourselves through movement, using scarves and dancing. Our favorite music game is our circle dances, especially 'Cookie Capers'.

Special Thanks!

Thank you to a group of sixth graders who decorated our classroom doors for homecoming! Looks good!
